Everlasting Arms was a piece that was commissioned by a couple to celebrate 40 years of marriage. I first met this couple during my residency at Kedleston Hall and after seeing my ‘Con Brio’ piece at the National Museum of Wales they were able to trust me with creating a piece to celebrate such a special occasion.
My aim with this piece was to try and capture a sense of the dynamic energy of life, incorporating sensuous surfaces that convey creative movement and flow. I chose to use a leaf form as the canvas to bring these ideas together and also represent the many seasons that the commissioners had journeyed through in their 40 years together.
