The Robert Copeland trophy
Sterling silver
African blackwood
H 270mm x W 80mm x D 65mm
2006
This silver trophy was commissioned by the late Robert Copeland of Spode Ceramics for his village garden guild. This piece is based on the elegant leaves of a weeping willow tree and sparked my interest in taking inspiration from nature for many of my future designs.
The slender shape of the silver body extends into an African Blackwood base which gives an appealing contrast to the silver. The surface detailing on the top leaf is hand chased and parcel gilt with 18ct gold.
